STEP 2: Initial
organizational meeting
At this meeting we bring all of our cameras and lights
and film the process. The primary reason is so that the
person being filmed can get used to the process and will
feel as comfortable as possible when we do the actually
filming. We have also discovered that some people
spontaneously say things that can be incorporated into
the final product. We also get to try different camera
locations.
The intent of this meeting is to:
Help people organize their:
- Thoughts- many people do not know where to start or
how to
approach telling their life stores
- Story structure and order
- Pictures and other memorabilia - These are important
in producing a good product but can be overwhelming for
some people to find, organize and select which they want
to use. If you have ever looked for a certain picture in
a box of pictures you understand how easy it is to get
lost or sidetracked in the process. We have a process
that helps people get organized.
- Decide on the approach
-Everyone is different; some people are great story
tellers other are not. Our goal is to make the person
being filmed as comfortable as possible. A variety of
approaches can be used to enhance the process.
- Allow the
person being filmed time to become comfortable with
-The lights and
cameras
-The process
-The attention
-Us- the best
results require that the person being filmed feel a
sense of rapport and comfort with the people filming.
STEP 3: Filming
Once everyone is ready we schedule a time to shoot.
We always use two or more cameras when shooting
STEP 4: Product
production
Final production usually takes
three to four weeks depending on length of final
product. an estimate of completion will be given at time
of shooting. We understand that sometimes circumstances
dictate that the final product be produced faster and we
will do everything we can to accommodate those
situations.
From time to time we are asked to
film when there is not enough time or the person being
filmed is not healthy enough to follow our normal
procedures. In that case the health of the person being
filmed will dictate the procedure we follow.
